Niasa

Niasa is a hilly land in the far east of Allandria.

The middle of the country is a vast dessert, but the edges near the coasts and Coscroa have plenty of arable, if not exactly hospitable land. Halflings and humans to the south farm in rice paddies and grow other flooding-resistant crops and live in homes carved into hills to protect themselves from the titanic storms that roll in from the south for half the year. To the north, the land is dryer, and wilder. Nomadic mixed tribes of humans, orcs, and chromatic dragonborn roam the hills here, and gather twice a year, once in Zeggal to the southwest for the winter solstice, and once in Laccocri to the northeast for the summer solstice.

While Niasa is technically one country, it lacks a functional united government. The agrarian towns to the south and the roaming tribes to the north all govern themselves independently, and they settle disagreements between groups through the use of diplomats, and when that fails, single combat. All agree that it would be too much trouble, with too little to gain, to conquer or unite Niasa under one banner or one government.
