The party found that the Thrice-Blessed Inn was serving as overflow lodging for folks displaced from their homes who had fled to the Matsuki Estate. Mother Otis, the innkeeper, had told them that the trouble had started at around midnight, and drew their attention to several smouldering fires on the other side of the river. They suggested that if they wanted to try to solve the problem they’d best go speak to Old Matsuki; they were too busy just trying to set up to house a third of the town—and bemoaning the damage to the inn’s woodwork!
